And the fact that the majority leader has now filed cloture. potentially cutting off the opportunity for full and fair debate and an adequate number of votes on this bill. again. is not encouraging at all. I am one of those who would like to see a solution to this problem. but I think it is important that we reflect on what kind of solution we will accomplish if we are successful. To me. the goal is simply to restore law and order to our immigration system. It is important to our national security because we have to know who is coming into our country and why people are here in a post9ill world. It is important to public safety because we know the same broken borders that can allow people who are economic migrants to come across can also allow common criminals. drug traffickers. and even terrorists. And it is important to our prosperity in this Nation that we reestablish our heritage as a nation that believes in the rule of law. We simply cannot have people choosing to obey some laws and disobeying others.
