Session #110 · 2007–09

Speech #1100054499

It would simply create two factfinding commissions: one commission to review the U.S. Governments treatment of German Americans. Italian Americans. and European Latin Americans during World War 11 and another commission to review the U.S. Governments treatment of Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi persecution during World War 11. These commissions would complete the work of the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians. created by Congress in 1980 to study the relocation and internment of Japanese Americans during World War 11. Thanks to that commission. this unfortunate episode in our history finally received the official acknowledgement and condemnation it deserved.
