He says. on average. the impact of 1980 through 2000 immigration on U.S. wages. on average. it has reduced wages by about 3.7 percent. 1 dont think there is much question that if you bring in a lot of people through the back door to compete for lowwage jobs. you are going to put downward pressure on wages. That is a fact. Here is an example of my concern and one of the things that persuades me we ought to do better.
