The first year the person was here. they could apply through their employer for a green card. permanent legal residence. which would put them on the pathway to citizenship within 5 years. That was a temporary guest worker program. I say that to my colleagues because we need to be alert to the fact that just because it says we have a trigger. just because we have a temporary worker program. when you read the fine print. it may not be what it appears to be.
