The CBO estimates that over the period from 2008 to 2011 that the housing fund created by this bill will generate roughly $3 billion. This is not an inisignificant amount of money. and that will be available to build new housing as a result of this legislation. To the best of our ability. we must eliminate the ability of someone here illegally to use new taxes from hardworking Americans to "buy a home." That is not leadership and it is the wrong incentive. So I urge my colleagues to rej ect backdoor amnesty for illegal immigrants and to support this commonsense amendment.
