Session #110 · 2007–09

Speech #1100043530

Mr. President. I hope we are not moving forward with a plan that would introduce the immigration bill we considered in the Senate last year. That is what I am hearing. I believe there are talks ongoing todaybipartisan talks--talks in which the White House and other members of the Presidents Cabinet are participating where they are at least talking about a framework of a comprehensive immigration reform of which we could be proud. The bill that was introduced last year was fatally flawed. It was not the kind of legislation we should have passed. If it had been passed. It would never have worked and would have been an embarrassment to the Senate.
