In order to address what is clearly a growing threat to this public health. CBP has been working cooperatively with the DEA. the FDA. our own U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ONDOP and the Department of Justice attorneys in an interagency working group directed at addressing issues related to the importation of prescription drugs and miscellaneous pharmaceuticals. The working group has conducted regular meetings since Januaiy 2004 and has achieved several key accomplishments since its inception. including conducting a joint interagency enforcement operation known as Operation Safety Cap. which was designed to look at passenger importations. of pharmaceuticals from Mexico.
