Mr. Speaker. I rise today in support of H. Res. 52. which honors Rev. Waitstill Sharp and Martha Sharp for their outstanding heroism during the Holocaust. Although the couple lived safely with their two children in Massachusetts in 1939. both felt a calling to provide aid to those in need overseas. They traveled to Czechoslovakia and began providing food for the refugees fleeing the Nazi regime. However. when they arrived. the Nazis invaded Czecho53. Pt. 2 January 22. 2007 slovakia and the situation grew more dangerous. Instead of returning home. they found that they could better serve those in harms way by helping them escape from the region.
