Cracking down on illegal immigration. rather than granting amnesty to over 11 million illegal immigrants will do more to improve the wages of the working poor than a law increasing the minimum wage. Finally. some have suggested that raising the minimum wage is the best approach to helping those living in poverty. There are much better and more targeted approaches to assisting the working poor. a minimum wage increase is a very blunt tool in doing that.
