Session #109 · 2005–07

Speech #1090174605

I want to congratulate the distinguished gentleman from New Jersey for his persistence on passing the accountability bill and the declaration of genocide. It has been a long 52. Pt. 14 19267 journey. We passed it. We are back again. But the people of Darfur cannot take any more bumps in the road. the constant pain of the violence and abuse against women and children and men. the constant moving. the increasing number of refugees. the violence against refugees. the Janjaweed and others. The government is continuing to play the blame game. It is vital that the envoy have a robust mandate and be able to energize the negotiations that are going on or that are not going on.
