Members have had very little time to look at these bills. and to consider the ramifications should these bills be enacted into law. This is no way to craft good. solid legislation. These bills represent a halfhearted attempt at beefing up immigration enforcement and border security. Instead of taking a rifle shot approach to the immigration issue. the House and Senate should have went to conference on the immigration bills that passed each chamber. Unfortunately. rather than coming together and hashing out differences. the two Chambers began holding field hearings about why their Chambers bill was better than the other Chambers bill. It is time to stop these antics and appoint conferees so we can create a good bill.
