Mr. Speaker. I rise in opposition to the Immigration Law Eniorcement Act of 2006. H.R. 6095. It will not protect United States borders. strengthen our national security. or address the nations immigration problems comprehensively. Instead of voting on H.R. 6095 and other bills that raise a few issues on a piecemeal basis. we should be going to conference to resolve the differences between the House and Senate immigration reform bills that have already passed. H.R. 6095 presents a sense of Congress that the Attorney General should adopt. not later than three months after the date of the enactment. uniform guidelines for the prosecution of smuggling offenses to be followed by each United States attorney in the United States. It also requires the hiring of additional personnel for prosecuting alien smuggling cases.
