We have learned from it. and we need to follow our own example. It is a onetime expense that this bill would meet and will allow us to meet those challenges. I am convinced that physical barriers at the border are an essential part of a costeffective solution to our current border security crisis. Virtual fences are intriguing and may be good in remote areas. but they dont impress me with regard to high traffic areas where we are talking about half a million or a million people crossing per year. There are only two alternative routes that we can take to secure the border: manpower alone or manpower plus infrastructure.
