Session #109 · 2005–07

Speech #1090156388

They dont think that is a good idea. And our Democratic colleagues In the Senate made sure that the provision that we recognize America as an English speaking land was not in there. The majority of the Democrats in the Senate voted for the ReidKennedy immigration bill. The majority of Republicans in the Senate voted against the ReidKennedy bill. So that is why I am calling it the ReidKennedy bill. because this is the Democrats version of the solution for what we need to do in America today on immigration. Now. I have talked probably way longer than I should. but I am now very happy to be joined by one of my colleagues who wanted to also be heard on this issue today. so I am going to yield to the gentlewoman from Florida . a very distinguished Congresswoman from that fine State. and I am proud to say a member of my class in this Congress. as much time as she wishes to consume.
