Mr. President. I support the Vitter amendment to stop the Customs and Border Protection agency from using its funds to block the personal importation of prescription drugs from Canada that comply with requirements of the Federal Food. Drug. and Cosmetic Act. We all know that drugs distributed in Canada are as safe and effective as drugs distributed in the United States. Each of us has constituents who obtain prescription drugs from Canada. The reason is obvious. They are tired of being gouged by exorbitant U.S. prices for their medicines. when the identical drugs are available in Canada at half the price and are just as safe.
