Mr. Chairman. I rise in opposition to this amendment because the funding it would remove from the bill would be terribly detrimental to our border security infrastructure. at precisely the time when we are tinally turning our attention towards fixing our border and stopping illegal immigration. The Nogales/Mariposa Port of Entry and San Luis Port o Entry are located on the ArizonaMexico border and will enhance security while promoting economic development and improving the quality of life in the border region and across the country. The first project is the reconfiguration of the Nogales/Mariposa Port of Entry to expand the port and enhance border security. Mariposa is one of the principal commercial crossings on the southern border. it processes half of the winter fruits and vegetables entering the United States. Built in the 1970s.
