While less than 1 percent of our entire annual budget. foreign assistance serves as a main pillar of our foreign policy and is an integral part of our national security. As always. assistance to the Middle East is the central part of this bill. It provides the full amount that the President requested for Israel. including both economic and security assistance. It also provides $40 million for refugee resettlement in Israel. Just as importantly. it lays down the groundwork for this program in the future. It also provides no direct funding for the Hamasinfected Palestinian Authority.
