Throughout the world. the number of refugees fleeing across borders to escape persecution and poverty is increasing. yet the House is now poised to reduce the United States commitment to international refugee assistance by almost $33 million. $82 million less than President Bushs request. In Sudan and Congo. innocent people are dying for no reason other than the color of their skin or the religion that they practice. but our financial commitment to them continues to fall short. How about the Millennium Challenge Account?
