The committee has been extremely active. and we have achieved a good deal working together. We reported a bill to provide compensation to asbestos victims and began its consideration in the Senate. Just recently. we joined together to introduce a new version of our legislation. to note the passing of our friend Judge Becker and to recommit ourselves to finishing this bipartisan task to provide fair compensation to asbestos victims and reduce the litigation burden that asbestos cases have imposed on our civil justice system. We worked together to report a comprehensive immigration reform bill and continued to work with Senators KENNEDY. MCCAIN. HAGEL.
