Mr. President. what we are saying is when immigrants are going to be legal immigrants. they are going to pay income tax. and under the Sessions amendment they are going to say you are going to pay your taxes. but you are not going to be able to take the earnedincome tax credit. Your two children may be American citizens. but under the Sessions amendment. you will not be able to take the earnedincome tax credit because you have not effectively became a citizen. even though you are legally here and paying taxes. This is a special punitive tax provision that will be unique only to those individuals. It is wrong and it is unfair. and this amendment should be defeated.
