At the end of the process. we approved a tough. fair. and comprehensive bill on a strong bipartisan vote. We have seen a similar process on the floor of Senate. We have debated this legislation for several weeks. By my count. we have had over 30 roll call votes on amendments to this bill. It is rare for us to devote this much time and energy to a single piece of legislation. It demonstrates that the Senate takes the subject of immigration very seriously. And it is reflected in the quality of the final product. As I said earlier. this bill includes provisions that I oppose and those that I support.
