Session #109 · 2005–07

Speech #1090138878

That is the concern that we have. and this amendment sweeps with too broad a brush here. To deal with the outlier situation we do not have to remove the remedy of the final order of removal for the hundreds of thousands of people who came here illegally and need to be expeditiously removed. I urge my colleagues to understand that this amendment is serious. It is farreaching. It is overly broad. It strikes existing law. It is opposed by the administration and it is unnecessary with respect to the underlying purposes of the immigration problem that we are trying to resolve today. My colleagues should defeat this amendment. 152. Pt. 7 9559
