Session #109 · 2005–07

Speech #1090134982

From 2000 through 2005. at the height of the housing boom. inflationadjusted wages actually fell 1.59 percent. So we have this crisis in workers. and wages are falling. He then talks about food manufacturing. They make up a big part of that. Let me point out that even in the construction industry. the illegal immigrants make up only 12 percent of the workforce. So this argument that you cannot get anybody who is nativeborn to work in construction is bogus. The one thing that hurts me the most when I hear President Bush say it is when he says these are jobs Americans wont do.
