But I dont believe this Senate has ever seensince I have been here. a piece of legislation of such monumental consequence have a misrepresentation as great as the allegation that the bill deals with temporary guest workers when it absolutely creates an automatic path to citizenship. So why dont we do it right? Why dont we do what Senator KYL and what Senator CORNYN say and fix it. make it actually do what we the bill claims it does. make it temporary? . A green card is valuable. It entitles people to great benefits of the United States alone. even short of citizenship. So we have benefits that accrue like the earned income tax credit. like the food stamps and benefits of that kind as you come to be on the path of legal permanent residence.
