Senator ALEXANDER. who will speak in a moment. was responsible also for working with Senator INHOFE to include provisions in this amendment that help us to recognize the importance of English in our country and the importancenot just for our new immigrants but for all Americansof speaking this language that is our national language. So an amendment that recognizes that It is our national language is very positive for both immigrants and nonimmigrants alike. I would also like to make a point about what this amendment is not. This is not an Englishonly amendment.
