I worry about how this will affect our tourism industry and the challenges it will create for Americans who want to visit one of the most beautiful places in our country. These are just some of the issues which must be considered before implementing this plan. I believe the department of homeland security and the State department are operating under an unrealistic timeframe. We must ensure they have enough time to properly test and implement this system. which includes biometrics and new border security equipment. Those of us in Alaska share a special relationship with our friends in Canada. It would be unfortunate if a hastily imposed initiative negatively affected movement in and out of Canada. or negatively affected our relationship with our neighbors.
