I want to thank my friend from Maryland for all his efforts in relation to this amendment and to his commitment to the establishment of maritime security command centers. These centers will be vital tools in the war on drugs. will assist in preventing illegal immigration. and will monitor possible terrorist activity in each region by tracking shipping movemen ts. I agree that the close cooperation and coordination between the Federal. State. and local governments is an integral part of a successful command center structure. and I will be pleased to accept the amendment.
