It is unfair to the authors of the bill and the Judiciary Committee that generated this bill. It is unfair to this body. and I believe to the institution as a whole and to the American people. Although I am strongly supportive of a border security billtighten those borders--a bill that addresses worksite enforcement. a temporary worker plan. and one that brings people out of the shadows. I feel it is important that we oppose bringing debate on the HagelMartinez amendment to a close in order to protect the rights of Members to offer amendments and to have them debated and voted on.
