The budget plan passed out of the House Budget Committee would make huge cuts to domestic discretionary programs. These cuts would be extremely harmful both to our social service agencies that are dependent on public funding as well as the vulnerable populations we advocate on behalf of. Programs such as the Older Americans Act. the Social Services Block Grant. the Community Services Block Grant. and the Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program are critical to the elderly. refugees. children. and persons with disabilities. and all would likely face severe cuts if this budget proposal is enacted.
