They want to come to the United States for the miracle and for the dream that is America. I am sympathetic to the history and the culture and the tradition we have as a nation of being a welcoming country. a country that says to bring your poor. your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. I approach the debate on immigration from that perspective. that context of having a grandfather. one generation removed from me. who came to this country for all the various reasons that people today continue to want to flock to America. As I have listened to the debate. I have tried to give consideration to all the different perspectives that are presented.
