It must be done in a way that brings dignity to the process. It must be done in a way that doesnt pit one group of people against another. It must be done in a way that recognizes our history. That is what President Bush said about the kind of debate we ought to be having in America today on immigration. Yet the reality is that the kind of debate that is going on in some places in America is a debate that is very vitriolic and is very poisonous. It serves to divide our country as opposed to uniting our country.
