The majority leader set this time for this bill to come to the floor. and he said he expected us to complete a bill if we wanted a Judiciary Committee bill to be the vehicle on the floor. So the committee tried to do it. But there was not enough time. We did not give enough thought to it. in my view. We met for 6 days in the Judiciary Committee attempting to mark up Chairman SPECTERS immigration legislation. a mark that he put out which is considerably better. in my view. then what is currently on the floor. His was not acceptable in some ways. but it is better than the one we produced. He put his mark out for debate in Committee.
