Speech #1090119600

That honors the principle of the rule of law. Then we should create a legal status for the workers and the students we welcome here to help increase our standard of living. as well as to support our values. That honors the principle that we are a nation of immigrants. that we believe in equal opportunity. and that we believe in a free market. laissez faire. But we should not complete work on a comprehensive immigration bill without remembering why we have placed that threeword motto above the Presiding Officers chair. without remembering that our unity did not come without a lot of effort. without noticing lessons from overseas that remind us that it is more important today than ever to help prospective citizens become Americans. I was teaching a class I created there called the American Character and Americas Government.
