We certainly are not going to remove them because we have no way to remove 10. 11 million people. however many people there are. except for those people who commit criminal acts. So I think the debate is misfocused in some ways when the word "amnesty" becomes the hot button nomenclature versus the more substantive question: What you do with people who are already here and basically have the capacity to be here. and they already have amnesty. for all intents and purposes. because we are not going to do anything about them so long as they act legally in the context of their jobs because we do not have the capacity to remove 11 million people. and our society would not be able to absorb it. But getting into the issue I wish to talk about today. which is the specifics of the Border Patrol question and how you upgrade the Border Patrol. the bill before us authorizes an additional 1.400 Border Patrol agents over the next few years and authorizes more beds for detention. It authorizes more technology for the purposes of guarding the border. That is all well and good.
