He is not going to apply the Constitution as he wishes it might be. but as it is written. In exercising this judicial restraint. Judge Alito will protect the peoples ability to govern themselvesand that is ultimately what is at stake. That is why I support Judge Alito. Here is a man who is the son of an immigrant. comes from a modest background. and has a keen sense of patriotic duty. He is highly intelligent. undeniably experienced. and imbued with character and personal integrity. He has a lowkey. patient. and respectful personalitythe model of what we have come to call the "judicial temperament." He believes in judicial restraint and has proven it for the past 15 years.
