Land line and cellular telecommunications can be severely disrupted in a time of natural disaster. and it is Important to have satellite communications available so that they are a reliable alternative for first responders and others involved in natural disasters. However. I would note that while I will be happy to vote "aye" on the amendment. we do not actually need this amendment to have the use of satellite communications. That is something that the administration could have done on its own. There are some other things that they ought to be doing that would really make a difference. The U.S. Border Patrol needs additional agents. and we need new training for those agents. We need 2.000 additional agents in ICE and 250 additional detention officers. U.S.
