Session #109 · 2005–07

Speech #1090098035

It stands as one of the worst crimes of the 20th century and a shocking example of what becomes possible when the dignity of the human person is subordinated to political ideology. Faced with the terror of the Khmer Rouge. many thousands of Cambodians did what you and I would do in that situation. They and their families fled their homeland. becoming refugees. Of those numbers. more than 145.000 resettled in the U.S. where they have contributed to the strength of communities throughout our Nation. We are proud of our Cambodian American population. which has demonstrated such resilience and industry.
