Mr. President. I would like to turn my attention briefly to the issue which was discussed by the Senator from Iowa in raising objection to proceeding with the legislation aimed at trying to expand the number of H1B entries as permitted on an annual basis to be employed by American businesses. The Senator focused on a very narrow issue in raising his objectionspecifically. the argument based on several newspaper stories that there is not a shortage of skilled workers in the hightech industries. Virtually every study that I have seenand as the principal sponsor of the legislation when it was in the Senate.
