I thank the ranking member for yielding time to me. I thank him for his leadership. and I thank my good friend. the gentleman from Texas. for working on this very difficult issue. Frankly. in my district I get immigrants who are speaking of those they have left behind. and are certainly concerned that this country might be seen as closing the doors to those who seek to come and work. At the same time. I get many of those who are in this country. who are born in this country. who express a great degree of concern about losing their jobs and opportunities.
