Third. we should adopt this legislation. H.R. 3736. the Workforce Improvement Act. The Workforce Improvement Act temporarily increases the number of highskill worker visas. It will help American employers address the current hightech worker shortage. so they can strengthen Americas economy. help create American lobs i America. and maintain our global leadership in technology and innovation. The bill contains a reasonable balance of checks and balanceshelping to keep the HoneB visa program from being abused. while resisting the temptation to have the U.S. Department of Labor involved in every private hiring decision. And the fees from this program will help pay for advanced American worker training and education. This bill is not perfect. I would have preferred that the increase in HoneB high skill worker visas was offset with a reduction in other visa categories. But the measure is a product of compromise. And on balance. it is in the national interest.
