Session #105 · 1997–99

Speech #1050179281

Mr. Speaker. I was a refugee in a camp at the end of World War II in Austria. Our family was forced to live there and we could not leave. Last year I visited a refugee camp in Honduras where 10.000 people were there. They were forced to live there. They could not leave. That is the situation that happened during the Second World War. I met with those who were incarcerated in my district and others. I think an apology is appropriate. I think that reimbursement of lost assets created by forced sale at fire sale prices is appropriate.
