Session #105 · 1997–99

Speech #1050142507

The fact that the Senate passed today something called the American Competitiveness Act. which calls for making America competitive by bringing in foreigners. foreign professionals in the information technology industry. The American Competitiveness Act is an example of outrageous language being used here in Washington. ridiculous language. It is called the American Competitiveness Act. and yet at the heart of the act is the provision which requires an increase in the quotas for visas for information technology professionals from foreign countries. so they can come in and meet our needs in this critical area of information technology workers. American. Competitiveness Act for that kind of piece of legislation is about as ridiculous as the Paycheck Protection Act which my colleagues were talking about before.
