Session #105 · 1997–99

Speech #1050136709

And 75 percent of those individuals who have lost food stamps in Wisconsin live in households with children. The Hmong and highland people have enriched our country and enriched Wisconsin. They have worked hard to support their families and give back to their communities. Simply put. we are thankful for all they did and thankful for the contributions they continue to make. Last year. we took steps to restore SSI benefits to the Hmong and other worthy immigrants. and today we are right to take this step with respect to food stamps. I urge my colleagues to support the conference report.
