Session #105 · 1997–99

Speech #1050107884

Mr. President. I rise to commemorate an extraordinary life. We in the U.S. Senate have lost a former colleague and a leading light of the U.S. SenateAbraham Ribicoff. Abe Ribicoff. Mr. President. was born and raised in New Britain. CT. He was the son of poor Polish immigrants. Yet this humble son of Connecticut rose to become one of our States and our countrys most distinguished public servants. He served in this body for 18 yearsbeginning in January of 1963 and retiring in 1981. One of the highest honors I have had in public life. Mr. President. was to succeed Abe Ribicoff in the U.S.
