In addition. it includes money for the core programs at NIST known as Scientific and Technical Research and Services programs. which include very important research conducted in its laboratories. The total is equivalent to the Senatepassed bill. $6 million below the amount originally authorized by the Committee on Science and appropriated by the House. but I applaud it. Also. the bill includes $192.5 million for the advanced technology program. $113.5 million for the manufacturing extension program. $150 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. which actually is $150 million more than what the House had asked for. Let me comment just briefly on the compromise on 245(i) of the Immigration Act. I think it is very important. I am glad it was done.
