Mr. Speaker. I am very pleased that the House is considering today H.R. 2570. legislation I have introduced to condemn the practice of coerced abortion and sterilization in China. I want to state at the outset that this legislation. in my opinion. does not take a prochoice or a prolife position. It simply condemns Chinas all too common practice of forcing women to undergo involuntary abortions and sterilization under Chinas onechildpercouple policies. and prohibits the State Department from issuing United States visas to Chinese officials involved in the establishment or enforcement of these practices. Mr. Speaker. I believe these are goals that we all support.
