Session #105 · 1997–99

Speech #1050094543

That is not what this debate is about. There are some who will always say. the minute you start talking about trade. that there are those of us who believe in free trade and then there are the rest of you who dont understand. They say that there are those of us who believe in the global economy and the benefits and fruits that come from being involved in expanded trade in a global economy. and then there are the rest of you who are xenophobic isolationists who want to build a wall around America. That is the way it is frequently described when we discuss trade. But that is not what this discussion is about. not at all.
