There is no requirement that workfare workers get the same benefits and working conditions as others working a similar length of time and doing the same type of work. This is simply not fair. Additionally. the Republican bill restores SSl and Medicaid to 125.000 fewer legal immigrants than the bipartisan budget agreement by the year 2007. The budget proposal would allow States to cut benefits to elderly. blind. and disabled Americans. I did not support the welfare reform bill that passed last Congress because it needlessly and cruelly throws over 1 million children into poverty. and I do not support the Republican proposals today.
