I rise In strong support of this amendment which restores the ellgibility of SSI until the end of this fiscal year. I want to particularly commend the gentlewoman from Florida IMrs. MEEKI. our good friend. for her persistence. We are here because of her efforts on the Committee on Appropriations to set the framework for having a floor amendment to be offered. I Just want to say a special word of thanks to her because as the son of immigrants. I especially appreciate her efforts in behalf of extending for a short period of time truly justice for many deserving Americans.
