I believe we are forced to three conclusions by this unfolding scandal. First. the White House. in preparation for the election. was turned into a political machinemore like Tammany Hall than the most ethical White House in history. The staff of the President. the staff of the Vice President. the First Lady. the Immigration and Naturalization Service. and even the CIA were all involved. We are not sure exactly what the direct involvement was of the President. We know the Vice President. who was referred to as "solicitor in chief." was a key player in all of this. in one way or another.
